About Me

Rev. Dr. Cynthia Diane Clayton is an inspirational personal transformation speaker & workshop facilitator, sharing with New Thought organizations and gatherings, healing centers, festivals, colleges, civic organizations and spiritual retreats, focused on self-mastery classes developed while teaching at Oregon Coast Community Colleges (OCCC). THE ART & SCIENCE OF HAPPINESS: “The Art of Positive Thinking,” “Being Happy for No Reason,” “Learning to Love Yourself,” and “Mindfulness Meditation: Rewire Your Brain for Peace.” (See Courses) Although she has a foundation of 44 years in the New Thought movement, her teachings do not fit in a box anymore. Her cutting-edge understanding of consciousness, metaphysics and spirituality is shared now in many circles as the new thought of New Thought.

METAPHYSICAL TRAINING

Cynthia received a Doctor of Philosophy, Ph.D., specializing in Metaphysical Counseling, from the University of Sedona, following a Master of Metaphysical Science, M.Msc., from The University of Metaphysics. Previously, she received a bachelor’s degree in Metaphysical Science, a bachelor’s in Sociology, and a bachelor’s in urban & Rural Studies, attending the University of California in San Diego.

She was a sponge at this period in life, studying and practicing daily what she could learn from Wisdom Masters of the past. Living as a hermitress in the White Mountains, after profound experiences with Light, she researched the “Lightbody phenomenon” as the next stage of human evolution. She published her findings in Transform Into Lightbody. (See Books) For her doctorate research and dissertation, she researched Oneness (with self, others, Self/God/Cosmos), and wrote Separation from Oneness: The Root Cause of Psychological Suffering; it holds honors of distinction by the International Metaphysical Ministry. (I.M.M.)

Why did she gravitate to this 10-year later in life metaphysical path of study? In high school, she decided to be a psychiatric social worker; but in her first round of college discovered it too narrow and bureaucratic a field for offering her insights. So, for a while, she worked in education and as a town’s Children’s Librarian.

After the 27 years of marriage and 3 children period culminated, her mother, a practicing metaphysician since Cynthia’s teenage years, teaching her to think outside the box and always with positivity, reminded her to think big and use her intuition, and to have faith in her calling. Following this advice, she returned to study the depths and workings of life, of the mind and heart, and how she could benefit humanity.

REVEREND KARIMA

However, it wasn’t until she became a reverend that her calling truly supersized. She first studied a few years under Dr. Paul Leon Masters, founding father of international metaphysical universities and ministries. (IMM) She became an Ordained Minister with International Metaphysical Ministry in September 2011. Next, she attended training in several classes and became a Certified Level III Unity Chaplain, practicing Prayer Consciousness, Spiritual Counseling and Hands-on Healing.

Wanting to dive into the deepest possible levels of the heart, she joined the Sufis. The Sufi Ruhaniat International (SRI), a westernized Sufi order of mystics from all (and no) religions honoring the Divine, is one of several orders following teachings of Hazrat Inayat Khan, who brought Sufism to the West from India in 1910. Cynthia was accepted into their training to become a Sufi minister. After three years, in August 2013, she received ordination as a Sufi Cheraga. (All-Faiths Minister)

Finally gaining confidence, Cynthia began sharing once or twice a month at Oregon Coast spiritual centers, offering Sufi practices and metaphysical teachings.

“Reverend Cynthia took us on a journey of incredible self- awareness called ‘Harvesting Our Lives.’ (See Videos) Her wisdom, warmth, and humor lead us gently on a deep, transformative inner journey beyond the boundaries of self and other to a peaceful place of all-connectedness. I long to learn more from this poet-teacher-wise one and look forward to future workshops.”  Robin L.J.

“Be prepared for a spiritual pilgrimage deep into yourself. Cynthia Clayton is without a doubt a genius in her interpretation of life and the pursuit of true happiness.”  Beverly P.

“She took us on such a beautiful journey into the inner light … being aware of this light every moment … as an awakened part of our essence … feeling and experiencing our eternal body as the true reality of us.”  Mario E.C.

“She is a treasure trove of spiritual thought and ways to approach life from a position of love and joy. Her eclectic background and degrees give her a much wider perspective than most speakers, and she’s provided a wealth of alternative approaches to spirituality.”  Malcolm D.

AUTHOR

Cynthia got her start as a charismatic voice troubadour after living in solitude a few years. One day, a stream of consciousness began, and she wrote several poems over the next few years. When she finally emerged and began reciting her reflections as spoken-word art in art galleries, fans commented that her poetry sounded like Rumi. She hadn’t heard of Rumi, but soon discovered their connection: She was born on Rumi’s birthday! She published two Rumi-style books of her reflections and began touring the Western states performing the ecstatic poetry at large gatherings.

One supporter wrote:

“Amazing! Rumi’s energy comes pouring through you and is channeled. You are on fire … flowing with the love you have discovered within your own heart. You seem to be charged with the lightning coming through you…” Rassouli

Since then, she became a college professor, incorporating her heart’s wisdom into secular-world fields backed by the science of positive psychology, teaching students how to think and how to be happy.
